GAME WEEK: Reunion Weekend Fan Facts

CHATTANOOGA — It’s reunion week in the picturesque town! It’s an exciting time with the alumni coming home for the weekend with the hustle and bustle of the current students enjoying the pageantry. In the meantime, it is also a pivotal week in the race for the title of the Southern Conference.

The Chattanooga Mocs welcome Furman at 1:30 pm The two teams are at the heart of the race for the championship. The Mocs are 4-3, 3-1 in conference, half a game behind the first. The Paladins are 2-2 and are looking to spoil the standings with four games to go.

Chattanooga is looking to pursue a new trend. Over the past two weekends, the Mocs have won two of the three weekly Southern Conference honors. Samford’s demolition last week drew nods for Rashun freeman (defense) and Aaron Sears (special teams). Freeman had five tackles, one for loss and a sixth pick, while Sears posted a season record 13 points, making all seven PATs and 2-2 for FG (21, 40).

There is also a special opportunity to preview this year’s wrestling schedule. While it’s easy to do this in line with the current well-advanced weight class series – 125/133, 141/149 and 157/165 are released – the team is also on display on Saturday. The annual Blue-Gold match is scheduled in the First Horizon lodge during tailgating.

Friday is the induction for this year’s Hall of Fame class. It’s an impressive list that you can find here. Inductees and recipients are honored at the annual Hall of Fame banquet on Friday in the Tennessee Hall of the University Center. The banquet is open to the public. Places are limited with reservation required. The cost is $ 50.00 per person, which includes dinner. Submit payments and RSVPs to the UTC Sports Development Office at (423) 425-5273.
